Here’s what’s new in the world of LA tech:

WHAT LA IS MISSING: Almost a year to the date following Mark Suster’s There’s Something Going on in LA, Arteen Arabshahi of Karlin Ventures points to a few areas where LA is lacking, all of which will be resolved with time, including:

1) Mentors & Money for Late-Stage Investment (Yup, LA can syndicate for a Seed or Series A, but the big money is still up north. BUT, more Bay area VCs are setting up shop and staying in LA);

2) More Active Tent Pole Companies (we have Snapchat, Honest, Tinder and others, but not a biggie like Microsoft. Yet.);

3) Seasoned Talent from Within (we have a good amount already, and will have even more over time) and

4) Entrepreneurial Spinoffs (again, in time, especially as options for companies like Snapchat vest, and MCNs fulfill earnouts — MySpace’s breakup saw a lot of diverse talent scatter across town, expect more from today’s local titans).
