And I know, I know — Marcia Marcia Marcia — it’s like the morning news posts are always about Snapchat, and well, that’s because they’re making news! And so can you, even on a micro level. If you do something cool that day, tweet it out. If you make a big accomplishment, notify the press — not just me, but the 7 or 8 other outlets that are covering the LA tech scene (although I’d like to believe we’re the most comprehensive). If you don’t have a publicist, cultivate press relations until you do get a publicist.

But more than anything, focus on the work. LA is at the beginning of very big things, double down on yourself, make great things, and people will take notice. But it never hurts to toot your own horn from time to time.
