LA REPRESENT! UK Government and BritWeek have announced the 7th Annual Business Innovation Awards, to be held April 27. Winners enjoy recognition in their industry and the opportunity to forge even stronger transatlantic links.
Innovative businesses in the southwest US are invited to apply in the following award categories:
Springboard Award, for a US company primed to expand its global presence. This award will be presented to a US business demonstrating true innovation and a readiness to expand their global presence. As the name suggests, the winner will have the chance to explore the UK as a future market for their product or service.
The prize will include roundtrip Air New Zealand Premium Economy flights to the UK for two company representatives, five nights hotel accommodation and a customized business development program organized by UK Trade & Investment to help them explore the business opportunity.
Innovation in Technology Award for the most exciting idea that demonstrates outstanding innovation in technology.
Innovation in Services Award for the most innovative idea that has had the greatest impact on business, business services or service provision.
Innovation in Social Impact Award for creating an innovative product or service that addresses a genuine social problem.
These categories are open to any company in good standing with headquarters in California, Arizona, Nevada or Utah and a verifiable business presence (physical office, employees, infrastructure such as warehousing and distribution, and/or a well-established customer base) in the UK.
The award winners will be selected by a prestigious panel of judges including: Andy Bird CBE, Chairman of Walt Disney International; Andy Puddicombe, Founder of Headspace; Sir Ken Robinson, noted author, speaker and international advisor; and Sophie Watts, Film Producer and President, STX Entertainment.
Says Consul, Head of Trade & Investment Carlo Cavagna, “Our awards have always showcased innovation that leverages the UK/US link, and this year we are excited to introduce a business development prize for the winner of the new Springboard Award. That award is designed for companies that have not yet taken advantage of the UK/US link by expanding in Europe via the UK. Our prize, which includes flights and hotels, will help the winner explore that opportunity.”
There will also be a Best of British Award, presented to an innovative British company enjoying outstanding business success in Southern California. The audience at the Awards gala will select the winner from among three finalists.
Says Daniel Rutstein, UK Trade & Investment Regional Director, West and Central US, “This is about celebrating the innovative relationship between the US and the UK; we want to hear from all the brilliant companies who are changing the world around them.”
“For ten years, BritWeek has celebrated the dynamic creative relationship between California and the UK,” adds BritWeek Chairman Bob Peirce. “Our Business Innovation Awards competition has always demonstrated the vitality of that relationship across many sectors of business.”
Applications will close on Friday, March 18, 2016.
