Good lord what a space! The team at CTRL Collective have definitely upped the ante when it comes to creating an environment worthy of inspiring great things from LA’s growing tech ecosystem.
We recently took a tour of the co-working space, which recently soft-launched, and is open for scheduled tours as they continue to build out the last remaining open spaces.
The 26,000 square foot building, once the headquarters of an energy concern, sits on two acres of land; it also has an additional 6,000 square feet of covered outdoor space, and a 2,000 square foot garage, which will be converted into a makerspace and soundproofed recording studio.
The front of the building and the halls are lined with private work spaces of various sizes, all with 14 foot ceilings.
The collaborative space in the back has a 5,000 square foot footprint, as well as a 3,000 foot loft. There are additional spaces throughout the building to work, collaborate, and blow off steam.
The space also features numerous outdoor areas for extra privacy and fresh air, grabbing lunch in the sunshine, and even meditation in the back.
And classrooms have been built out in order to draw developers and foster more community from all levels.
Plans are already in the works for spaces dedicated to media, video, VR, and podcast production, as well as areas for drones, 3D printing, and laser cutting.
CTRL Collective is located at 12575 Beatrice Street, north of Jefferson in Playa Vista.
Neighbors include Tom’s and numerous ad agencies, and is blocks away from YouTube, Belkin, ICANN, Facebook, IMAX, and (eventually) Yahoo & Google.
By putting itself smack dab in the middle of Playa Vista, the space is an obvious choice for companies and individuals of all type, whether they seek proximity to heavy hitters or just looking to grow as part of the area’s startup community.
The space is also available to host private events and gatherings.
